”All the Reasons I Love Thee”
A love letter from Tom Hiddleston to the reader. Enjoy : )
You stand in the shadow of a heavy red curtain. You watch as the love of your life rehearses his lines for tonight’s show. Even dressed in baggy, mismatched clothing he is heart stoppingly handsome. It has been two months since the breakup yet you still harbor deep love for this man. Your breath catches as the poetic words flow through his mouth with ease. Your body heats at the sight of his slight movements. The flex of his muscles beneath his shirt. The rippling of his soft curls as he runs his hand through them. Remembering the soft brush of his lips on yours as he absently runs his finger along his bottom lip. Heartache blooms out of your chest causing your stomach to roll and your knees to weaken. You resolve yourself to watch him for a few more minutes before the weeping starts. His voice is soft and echoey as he asks to run through one particular section of the play again. An unseen person gives their approval.
He pulls out a few loose pages from beneath his chair. They are crisp, white and unstapled. These pages are unfamiliar to you as the production’s scripts are typically made of blue paper bound together with a black binding. He takes a moment to look over his pages as uncertainty flows through him. With tense shoulders he begins, “All the Reasons I Love Thee. Written by me, uh, Tom Hiddleston”. He swallows. “Yesterday I ordered a cup of tea from room service. As I sat in my hotel room by the window, drinking my cup of tea, something funny popped in my head. I turned to tell you the joke, so that I could hear your beautiful laugh, but of course you weren’t there. So I took out my phone to call you. But then I stopped and I remembered”. He pauses to take a deep breath. “I remembered how I was an asshole to you and I remembered what I said. I remembered how you left that night and how I didn’t care. I remembered how shitty I felt afterwards but was too proud to come groveling at your door. Then, as the sun set over the buildings and my tea grew cold, I remembered all the reasons I loved you. Better I should say, all the reasons I love you”.
“I love the wrinkle in your nose when you giggle. I love it when you dance in the kitchen while making supper. I love how you steal my shirts to wear them in bed. I love the curve of your waist and the dimples on your lower back. I love the feeling of your hair in my face as I hold you at night. I love the smell of your perfume as I kiss your neck. I love your mind and I love the words that come out of your mouth. I love the feeling in my heart when you kiss me. I love how cute you look when you are upset with me. I love how you make me so pissed and happy at the same time”.
“I love watching crap TV with you on Saturday nights. I love singing in the car with you. I love holding your hand as we walk through the park. I love putting my arm around you in the movie theater. I love how your hair flows in the wind. I love how peaceful you look when you’re lost in your world. I love how passionate you are about books and music. I love how you hate sports but will sit and watch them with me for hours on end. I love how you listen to me after a long day at work. I love how you understand when I’m too tired to call. I love how you support me in all that I do. I love how you loved me for being plain old Tom”.
“These are just a few of the little things that I love about you. A thousand years can pass and yet only a fraction of my love will be expressed. Now, I know the purpose of this letter was to list all the things I love about you but I must confess an ulterior motive. You see my world has been reduced to sleep, eat, rehearsals and nothing else. When you were in my life I looked forward to each new day with bated breath simply because it was another day I got to spend with you”.
“Above all I guess the reason I love you is because you make me a better person. You taught me to have a deeper compassion and patience for others around me. You taught me to enjoy the little things and how to live in the moment. You showed me the true essence of life and beauty. Therefore I cannot, will not, let you walk out of my life. You are mine and we are meant to be”. His gaze connects with yours as he lifts his eyes off the last page. “My love, I am deeply sorry. Everything that I have just said are all the reasons I love you. Taking me back when I do not deserve it would be the biggest and best of them all”.
